Tainted Cube Poll Closed, New Poll Is Already Open

... Huh. We have a tie this week, it seems. I knew this could happen in theory, but am kind of surprised to see double the number of votes we usually get on this.

Where are they now?
Code Geass: A great game sets itself to the stage. Nunnally and Kallen become the White King and Black Queen respectively, representatives of two great powers that despise each other but have put those differences aside to battle a greater adversary... and in the middle of all this Lelouch is busily trying to set up his Black Knights.

Haruhi: Kyon and Haruhi are now dating, and have discovered that there's something peculiar about Kyon. What's more, the world has been retconned to feature the Britannian Empire from Code Geass, and Kyon may be the only hope the world has to be free of tyranny.

Love Hina: Keitaro finds he has the power to make magical girls, a revelation which unexpectedly complicates his relationship with Naru!

Neon Genesis Evangelion: One Angel down, but several more to go. Shinji moves in with Misato, Rei and three beautiful (if quirky) bodyguards. Then he has a revelation that he's not behaving like the hero he should be... Just in time for another Angel to attack!

Rosario + Vampire: Tsukune has decided to use his new gift to make things better for everyone at this strange academy. Especially him and his childhood love with whom he has recently been reunited, Moka. However, first they had to tangle with a dangerous succubus, who learns of his power and plots to use it for her own ends! Fortunately, Kurumu's charm is no match for Tsukune's, and he acquires a new ally in his uphill struggle!

Sailor Moon: Sailor Mars joins the team! But, this Rei is a bit different to how she usually is...

Removed From the Poll
I... I guess I do half of this week's update on Ranma 1/2 and the other half on Urusei Yatsura then. About ten pages (on google docs) or so on both. So with that in mind:

Neon Genesis Evangelion:Returned to poll
Sailor Moon:1
Code Geass:2
Ranma 1/2 & Urusei Yatsura: 3

Discussion of Latest Update
Well isn't this a pickle? I knew it could happen, but didn't actually expect it to. Oh well! I'll figure something out.

So, Ranma 1/2 ended off last time with Akane being turned into a monster, Kasumi into Sailor V, and Akane being cured of her monsteritis then being engaged to Ranma. The next step in the series is to send them off to school (seriously, by this point I know the step by step beats of this series like a column of check boxes). I feel that the twist here is that, as a magical girl series, the next episode should probably have Akane become a magical girl as well.

And wouldn't it be interesting if Kuno was the one that was transformed, and Akane had to save Ranma from his transformed state? I think that'd be pretty neat.

Meanwhile Urusei Yatsura! The next part of this, as in, the second chapter in the manga is basically Lum forcing Ataru to let her live with him when he gets into trouble. Some idiot boys try to make him call Lum back down to earth, and accidentally call for an inter stellar cab, which gives them a lift home in seconds. At which point the driver charges such an exorbitant amount of money, the Earth's oil supply gets taken... and then returned via rain when Lum pays it back. Then the entire planet suffocated because oil is like that. Well okay that last part didn't actually happen but it would have in anything like reality!

So anyway. I figure that for this one, Ataru has to deal with the consequences of the race and the strange spell that has befallen his member. Everyone around him is behaving really weirdly, and keep trying to catch a glimpse of it. Of course, he tries to take advantage of it the only way he knows how, but this backfires pretty badly pretty quickly. Somehow. The details are indistinct.

Alright then, what are your thoughts on this?

  1. Something's pretty fishy with the totals.

Splitting between the two? I have a feeling that's not quite going to leave anyone satisfied. Why not just use your discretion to pick which one you'd prefer and give the other one an advantage in the new week's voting or something? Except you've already started the next poll, so I doubt you would want to do that. Oh well.

So Akane would become a magical girl too? I thought she was just going to end up with regular old super powers. But if you think that'll work better…

Things backfiring for Ataru certainly seems like the right call, but no specifics come to mind.

  2. Yea, I checked. You can erase your cookies and vote as many times you want. Clearly, two individuals figured that out here.

  3. From the Tainted Cube intro page (http://lumitiel.blogspot.com/p/tainted-cube.html):

"In the event of a tie? Well, in that case the winner shall be selected at random."

Perhaps its partly to make up for all the lack of internet access? Then again, we are still waiting on a whole bunch of other content as well.

As for the poll, yeah, it's very much breakable. Clearing cookies allows multiple votes, and as well as using multiple browsers/hardware to access the site. There's no way to prevent vote stuffing as it is now.

Anyway, about the next episodes, there's also the matter of what desires Lelouch would have and its impact on either series. Looking back at the last Code Geass episode, we have:

For his special ability to be stronger
The safety and happiness of his sister.
    Free everyone from tyranny.
Discover what happened to his mother, and exact revenge.
    Make a better world.

Perhaps with the upcoming Code Geass episode another of Lelouch's desire would be to not be blindsided by unknown variables, given the magical villains will be a unknown factor, and Lelouch hates situations he can't control to his whim.

In any case, what would we even inflict to either one, or both series?

  4. I have suspected that someone has been cheating on the poll, in which case: I am very disappointed in you, whoever you are. I mean. Really now. You're going to cheat to get your way rather than play fair?

Anyway, yes I would normally have made this a random pick but I do feel rather bad about being offline. Which means I do kind of want to do a little bit of both, just this once. In future weeks I'll make it a coin toss or something.

As for the other new content, I finished working up on Curvy Akane and Asuka WP earlier tonight. I'll be posting Curvy soon, and Asuka WP in the morning probably.

In the meantime! I like the idea of Lelouch wanting to not be so easily blindsided by unknown variables. That was very much a problem for him throughout the series, really. My only problem with it... well, two problems with it are as follows.

1: How would it be perverted.
2: How do I keep it from utterly destroying the tension/comedy in both series? Or even go so far as to increase the tension/comedy in both series.

Anyway, I intend to use this weekend to roll out as much new content as I can. Now that I'm back online I can do the research I prefer to do into stuff to actually get things done.

    1. Well there's the idea that Ranma is able to foresee magical crap that is going to happen to him. Emphasis on the GOING TO HAPPEN part, as in he can't run away from the crazy voodoo curse about to hit him. No matter what he does fate and strange "coincidences" will always draw him to the exact place and time for him to be hit by the spell/curse/misc.

This is a pretty cruel fate though...

    2. Well, there is a reason Cassandra is a tragic story. Then again, the idea is certainly interesting enough to do somthing with.

Hrm. Maybe I will flip a coin to determine which will be affected by Lelouch, and then goes on to have an effect on the other.

    3. Not famialar with Cassandra. I was referring to the big deluded plot of the bad guy of this series where he esentially accelerated time to the end of the universe (living things being uneffected as time sped up around them), recreated an exact duplicate where everyone would have visions of what would happen to them (it demonstrated this by a guy seeing a banana peel and seeing himself slip on it. He thinks, "I'm just trying to be cautious so I don't trip on it." He tries to step around it and gets bumped from behind, causing him to step on it regardless.)

Worst of all the badguy did this because he believed that people are "evil" because they are uncertain of what the future holds and therefore are hesitant to embrace their destinies, so by forcing them to know EXACTLY what will happen could only be a good thing, right?

Fortunately the last surviving hero managed to trick him into altering events so he could kill him before the universe could make a "full loop" so the universe kinda became an alternate timeline...

      It's complicated.

    4. Cassandra is I believe a Greek myth. About a girl who gained the ability to predict the future, but was then cursed to have her predictions ignored.

Hmmm... maybe instead of visions that are useless because nothing can be prevented, perhaps perverted acts are required to receive foreknowledge. The more perverted it is, the clearer the foresight is. Not to mention how much time put into it.

Basically, a technique that is good for when you have the time and resources, but not for things you need immediate info.

And maybe if Ranma is picked, only works when he's a girl.

P.S. I am going to come clean and admit my part in some of the voting frenzy. I confess it was way too easy and perhaps I got too caught up in trying to direct the flow of the worlds. If you insist I'll refrain from making future contributions to this blog or the polls, given that my words are now probably... well... pardon the pun... tainted. All I can now say is research into a better polling solution somehow.

    5. Oh, I don't mind if you still take part. I'd just prefer that you and everyone else do so honestly. I'm glad that you care about the outcome, but I do want to try and get accurate feedback about what the majority of people want to see me do next.
