Voting Rules!

Welcome! This is an experimental game of sorts, to help me select the thread I shall work on next on the BEA Addventure, given that I am currently unsure of which to work on next. The rules for voting are not complicated, and are explained below.

All participants may vote once a week, by commenting in the post given at the start of the week. A vote consists of up to five suggestions. A suggestion is either a link or a reference number to any thread (except Tainted Cube) that has been worked on by myself (Lumitiel) on the BEA. For a full list that is updated on a monthly basis, please see here.

All suggestions made will be granted one point.

Any update by someone else in one of my threads will constitute a point for that thread, with the tiebreaker increase depending on the quality and length of the update.

0: Fatesplit
1: Very short or poorly written.
2: Well written but less than a thousand words.
3: Well written, longer than a thousand words.
4: Well written, longer than two thousand words

If an update is updated, those will count as further votes.

At the end of the week (Sunday) all votes will be tallied by myself, and the thread with the most points will be written and updated at some point over the course of that week.

In the event of a tie between multiple threads, the votes will be re-tallied based on the order of suggestions given in each vote. The first suggestion will receive four points, the second will receive three points, the third shall receive two, the fourth shall receive one and the last will receive no points. If this still results in a tie, then I shall resort to a more random method to make the selection.

Points will carry over from one week to the next save for the winning thread, which shall be reset to zero points. This is intended to promote circulation of threads worked on, though particularly popular threads will soon find themselves back up at the top.

Rule modification: After the winning thread is selected,  a second thread shall be selected based on "priority" points. The thread with the highest "priority" points will be updated, and its "priority" points will be reset to zero. Its vote tally will remain the same until it wins.

Further Rule Modification: Prior to calculating the winner, should any thread have fifty or above voting points, they will be immediately reduced by fifty. The tiebreaker points shall remain the same, and the thread will then be updated within the month (four weeks), though within that initial week will be attempted if possible. This is an additional update, meaning that whichever thread has the most number of votes and tiebreaker points will still be updated as usual.

For example, if Thread A has 51 votes, then it shall be set to 1 vote and given an update as soon as I can. Then Thread B (with, for example 49 votes) also gets an update as it is now the top ranked.

I would also like to encourage visitors to freely discuss the direction of certain threads they enjoy, as well as make suggestions for potential storylines.

Yet still another rule modification: If a thread has over 100 priority points, the difference shall be subtracted from them and added to the regular vote tally after winner calculation. This is to add an upper limit to the priority points, and should hopefully keep things competitive.

The current voting thread is listed here.
