Kiss-O-Matic: This one kind of snuck up on me a little bit. Didn't think this would win this week. Not complaining that it did though, it's kind of an interesting one to play with.
Just to check, did anyone else have a suggestion for alternative side effects of the machine that those two options doesn't cover?
As for the episode itself, I was thinking that perhaps Motoko attempts to explain the nature of the threat to Naru, who completely misunderstands and tries to keep her distance while Motoko resists the urge to kiss her.
First Impressions: I think we can basically move past the tag race part by this point. Everyone happy with that? Maybe explore Ataru's new home life while Lum is off getting the paperwork done for living on Earth? How does all that sound to you guys?
I would also suggest lip expansion as a side effect of the kiss machine but I don't think that's a very common kink. I like the magnetic idea though, sounds interesting. But once every girl's been kissed it loses it's buzz. Maybe her kisses can help expand other parts of people's bodies depending on where she kisses them.
ReplyDeleteAs for plot progression on that one, I'd like to see Motoko kissing her own hand or arm or something to try and resist her compulsion, but it's like eating crackers when you want chocolate. Doesn't do much for her. And Mitsune going after Su would be fun on her half, no preference whether she manages to catch Su or not.
Re: First Impressions: I agree. Maybe have a short recounting about how Ataru "wins" the Tag Race, either by shooting the dart gun at her bra (anime-version) or holding out her bra and then throwing her down to the ground when she grabs it (manga-version).
ReplyDeleteI wonder if in this version Ataru blurting out about the marriage is part of the arrangement? In that case, I wonder how Shinobu would get behind it? And then there's also Benten and Oyuki. Hmmm, maybe they could have it so that while Lum is off getting the paperwork, Ataru takes Shinobu out on a proper date. This is then followed by him taking Lum out for a date, and then after her he goes out with Benten and Oyuki, in either order.
Of course, him being seen with four girls is bound to cause all sorts of attention, so they might have to come up with some creative ways. And then soon Sakura will make her appearance...
Just to throw around some ideas.
Thinking a bit on first impressions, (And I agree with Farnham BTW), it occurs to me that after the race concludes, it might be interesting if for a little while Benten is the one alien girl hanging around on earth. Basically Lum and Oyuki are both filling out their paperwork, but Benten instead decided to get Oyuki to do hers for her (And complains about it to Shinobu and Ataru often as well.)
ReplyDeleteThat's a good idea. Perhaps the two might even enroll in Tomobiki High, like Lum and Ran did in canon? Oyuki at least wouldn't even have to move, as she could simply travel through her portals.
DeleteAll this would certainly provide an interesting twist to Megane and co's idiotic scheme to get Lum back to Earth, i.e. the infamous "Space Taxi/Raining Oil" fiasco. ;)
Actually, I was thinking it might be pretty interesting to do the actual second chapter of the manga. The one where the demon comes out of the mirror. It might help to illustrate that Ataru's luck might be better, but it's not great by any stretch of the imagination.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I really do like the idea of Benten staying on Earth. Maybe runs into Shinobu while she's heading to meet with Ataru.
Do you mean Benten running into Shinobu while she's heading to meet with Ataru after the demon's come out of the mirror? Yeah, that sounds good.
