Where are they now?
Haruhi: Kyon and Haruhi are now dating, and have discovered that there's something peculiar about Kyon. What's more, the world has been retconned to feature the Britannian Empire from Code Geass, and Kyon may be the only hope the world has to be free of tyranny.
Love Hina: Keitaro finds he has the power to make magical girls, a revelation which unexpectedly complicates his relationship with Naru!
Neon Genesis Evangelion: One Angel down, but several more to go. Shinji moves in with Misato, Rei and three beautiful (if quirky) bodyguards. Then he has a revelation that he's not behaving like the hero he should be... Just in time for another Angel to attack!
Ranma 1/2: Kasumi has become the Warrior of Love and Beauty, Sailor V! It is her duty to purify those possessed by monsters that take advantage of a person's sexual hangups to control them. Her very first encounter involves her youngest sister, Akane, who is purified of her hatred of immature perverted boys alongside the monster. Upon recovery, Akane and Ranma are engaged.
Rosario + Vampire: Tsukune has decided to use his new gift to make things better for everyone at this strange academy. Especially him and his childhood love with whom he has recently been reunited, Moka. However, first they had to tangle with a dangerous succubus, who learns of his power and plots to use it for her own ends! Fortunately, Kurumu's charm is no match for Tsukune's, and he acquires a new ally in his uphill struggle!
Sailor Moon: Sailor Mars joins the team! But, this Rei is a bit different to how she usually is...
Urusei Yatsura: Ataru wins the race against Lum, with disastrous(?} consequences.
Removed From the Poll
No sooner was it added, but the following week Sailor Moon is taken out of it once again
Rosario + Vampire: Returned to poll
Neon Genesis Evangelion: 1
Sailor Moon: 2
Code Geass: 3
Discussion of Latest Update
Well, I'm not entirely sure how this desire will play out, but the end result should be magical girls in Code Geass. I think I'd mentioned before that the theme should be "chess", and... I think it might be interesting to make Shirley the first member of the team. Why? Well, she just seems the sort that would usually be the main character in such a team.
Here are the questions needing answering.
1: Who are the enemy? No, not Britannia or the Black Knights (which don't exist yet actually). I was thinking it would have to be something supernatural.
2: What piece should Shirley be? There are six to choose from, and each should have its own uses and powers...
3: What costume should it be?
4: Now answer the previous questions again while remembering that the cube likes to pervert things.
So, I was thinking this chapter could largely take place from the perspective of other people than Lelouch as he investigates Kallen and starts setting up the Black Knights. Thoughts?

1. Well, given the usage of Arthurian references in CG, and Arthur's association with the Fae, I'd suggest mining the Unseelie for 'serious' opponents and the Seelie for 'suggestive' ones.
ReplyDelete2. I don't know Code Geass that well, but Kallen, obviously, must be the Queen. IIRC, Shirley's a direct, honest sort of person, so Rook may suit her well, or she could be the King because she's first.
3. All black ensemble - Thigh-high, high-heeled boots, flared miniskirt echoing the design of the base of a chesspiece, gloves, full-length sleeves that link up to what would otherwise be a very brief bikini top, symbol for the appropriate piece over one breast in white, crown or hair bauble echoing the design of the top of the appropriate piece - crenelated crown for Rook, royal one for King, etc.
Mongrel! Could there be any greater an enemy of Saber than I, The King of Heroes?!
Delete1. Some inverted form of the Code? Whereas the Code more or less represents God, they fight against an otherworldly evil that wishes to destroy God? If the Emperor is a minion of this dark force then he could make them public enemies number 1, forcing them to join forces with the Black Knights? Not sure if this works...
ReplyDeleteOr perhaps some evil that was pulled over from one of the other worlds? Miniturized Angels. Youkai. Alien AIs/Time Travelers/Espers (in the form of Geass users?).
Maybe a third Code Bearer besides C.C. and V.V., sick of humanity and all of it's evils and simply wishes to purge them?
2. I'm not so sure about Shirley being the first magical girl revealed, it's kind of a rule for the leader to be revealed first and that should either be the King or the Queen. Since you're using established girls from CG, Kallen must definitely be the Queen, but Shirley as a King... For some reason I see her more as a Bishop...
As for the other girls you could have Milly (one of Lelouch's closest friends who knows and guards the secret of his heritage, would also be ideal as a mischevious teleporter) be the Knight, C.C.? as the Rook (being industructible and all...?), Nunnally as the Pawn? (with a swarm of origami-shikigami familiars, later she breaks free of the Geass placed on her and gains a new power) and Nina as... an introverted racist bitch... eh, you can do better.
3. The Queen should have a long elegant dress that displays a brilliant amount of cleavage, etc. etc. But this being Kallen she soon tears the dress so it becomes a more manueverable (and revealing) skirt.
The King should be regal and elegant in appearance but still have a certain masculine style about it; pants instead of a dress, short white men's gloves, those fancy shoulder pieces that princes wear, etc.
The Kight could wear a black formfitting breast plate with a decorative window of cleavage, highheeled greaves, guantlets and a knight's visor that has the added ability of blocking Geasses that require eye contact.
Actually on second thought if the Cube wants to make Lelouch's world sexier, well, I think Nina being a more likable person could help in that endevor. Perhaps transfer her hatred/fear for "Numbers" to whatever their magical enemies are, maybe she had a tramatic experience involving them?
ReplyDeletePerhaps the magical girls would be Camelot themed as well. Or maybe some Irish/Welsh flavor. Geass is the corruption of geis, or geas. Then again, I'm also thinking some Fate/stay Night with its genderbent King Arthur for inspiration, even thought that's had nothing to this.
ReplyDeleteAlso for inspiration, the Nightmare of Nunnally alternate universe, featuring a Master Asia-style Zero.
As for the supernatural villain, perhaps they were one of those Sealed in the Can type things until someone meddled with the can?
ReplyDeleteOh, and for those wondering why the new poll isn't up yet? Simple answer is, I can't set it up the way I usually do. See, it requires five slots, the default setup gives you four and I have to click something like "add another option", which is a java script. For some reason this computer won't let me add that other option, which means Urusei Yatsura would be left out of the poll. It's really annoying like that, and I really don't have the time to work out what the hell.
ReplyDeleteWe've been given the tracking number for the new router, and it should be here tomorrow. I'll do it then from home.
Okay, lets take this by the numbers.
ReplyDelete1) Just got done reading the Sandman once again, so I'm stuck on the idea of the World of C being like the Dreaming. If so I can see nightmares and such escaping and causing havoc on the world.
2) Bishop/priestess. She's the voice of compassion, no doubt about that, and I can't see her as the Queen, Knight, Rook, or Pawn.
3) A nun would work.
4) Okay, a google search of hentai nun.
And I'm back online! I've taken all your ideas into consideration, and some very interesting thoughts have occured as a result. Thanks for making your suggestions, and here's what I've come up with. These are not set in stone, keep in mind, and I am still taking suggestions for them all.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, while Shirley will still be one of the magical girls I think it should focus on the leader of the group and that simply isn't her. So who else could it be? How about... Nunally? I have this really great emotional scene in mind where she realises that her transformed state can see and walk.
Secondly, the adversary. Blame Big Finish for this one, they released a story called "Gods and Monsters" last year that I only recently got around to listening to. Given that alongside the Arthurian inspiration within this series there are also more than a few Norse references, Fenrir seems like a wonderful antagonist to make use of. His Doctor Who equivalent is also particularly fond of chess, which is another connection that makes too much sense for me to ignore.
Now, I also liked the idea of using smaller versions of Angels to, let's say, find where Fenrir has been bound in chains and set him loose. So that's probably what the antagonists are up to.
Additionally, I thought it might be kind of interesting if there were actually two different magical girl teams (in the same kind of way there are two sets of sailor scouts: Inner and Outer). One team being White and the other Black. This would mean there would be twelve of them instead of six, but I think that is doable. How does Nunnally being the White King and Kallen being the Black Queen sound?
Sounds like a fitting setup. Also if the two come to learn the other's identities and become friends it could make for interesting conversations where they discuss Lelouch/Zero, each knowing the two different sides of our cunning protagonist.
DeleteWill they have different powers? I see Kallen having a powerful Knightmare that she can summon at will while Nunnally has the more traditional powers of a magical girl (i.e. Starlight Sparkle Beam GO~!). If you run short of ideas for interesting and unique magical girl powers you could always draw inspiration from other Sentai sources (Kamen Rider, Power Rangers, etc. (there was a Rider who's power involved transforming his body into parts of a SPACESHIP, there's gotta be something that'll work!)).
Do the two teams simply have different levels of skill (much like the Inners and Outers) or do they have different (but not contradicting) goals, such as the Black team fighting evil while the White team actively protects the innocent (holding the line against enemy attacks, healing, search and rescue, etc.)? Or do they have completely opposing goals (i.e. Kallen fights against Britannia alongside Zero while Nunnally wishes to apprehend her brother Clovis' killer)?
How exactly do the girls go about acquiring their new found powers? God? A Code Bearer? Luna? /s/The goddammed Demon Cat/s/ Kyubey?
Those are good suggestions about what the differences between White and Black would be. I figure, show both Nunnally and Kallen getting their powers in this episode. In this case, I'm seeing Nunnally having some sort of extremely powerful very short range ability (to complement the fact she's a King) while Kallen has some weird Knightmare frame that sets Lloyd his own extra subplot when he sees it in action.
DeleteAnyway, I specifically liked the idea about the Whites protecting while the Blacks go on the offensive. In the meantime, I figured they would get their powers through sentient teddy bears. Because why the hell not?
Just so long as they're not seppuku teddy bears... Damn Kampfer...
DeleteAnd I can just imagine Lloyd's reaction to any impracticle/impossible anime-logic fueled abilities Kallen's Knightmare could do (rocket fists, energy whips, explosive punches that leave your own mech unharmed, jumping off lampposts like you don't weigh several tonnes, transforming into a jet, AT fields, DRILLS!, etc.).
As for Nunnally, if we're talking about lots of power for a short range then how about a Stand power from JoJo? (Yes, I sing this manga's praises but so few people know of it) Basically think of the spirits of Shaman King but rather than ghosts they are manifestations of your own soul. The two most iconic Stands are Star Platinum and The World, both possessing impossible speed, terrifying strength, machine-like precision and the power to stop time for about "5 seconds", but they can only manifest about 3 meters from their respective users.
I wonder if Nunnally's mentor mascot will be named Nemo?

Are there twelve girls with actual characterization in the Code Geass series to use?
ReplyDeleteWell if we're counting more girls than adult women:
ReplyDeleteMilly
Shirley
Nina
Kallen
Nunnally
Euphemia
Kaguya
Anya
Tianzi
Inoue (not much characterization, but she's there)
Close but if we add fully adult women, then there's more than enough and it would be hilarious having some of these individuals on the same team...
C.C.
Sayoko
Viletta
Cecile
Kaguya
Cornelia
Rakshata
So, just to clarify this with all of you... You are all perfectly happy with the idea of black and white teams not necessarily going up against each other, but instead against another external force. Right? It's just that chess is kind of intended as a one on one game, and I was concerned that there might be an opportunity here to do something else with it that I might be missing.
ReplyDeleteAm I just worrying over nothing here?
