Sometimes ideas sneak up on me in the middle of working on something. Sometimes I find myself really taken with them. This is one of those times.
So, one of the things I'm starting to do now is "accidental similarity" between worlds. Like with the latest episode, where Tsukune took on traits from Lelouch because of something Keitaro wanted. Well, that's leaving me thinking, what if something similar happened to Shinji? What if Misato didn't live in her apartment. What if she lived, not only with Rei, but with three bodyguards assigned to protect them both...
And what if those three bodyguards were very attractive women?
I'm thinking three will do nicely. I mean, this place is gonna have Misato, Rei, Asuka and Shinji living there, so three seems the best number to round that off. I have three women in mind at the moment, let's see what you think of them.
The first is the melee expert. She dual wields two short swords, and is particularly expert in deflecting bullets with them. She takes the job of protecting her charges very, very seriously.
The second looks like a maid. She enjoys cooking. Enjoys cleaning. Enjoys the attention of the opposite sex, though she hides it pretty well. To all outward appearances she's very shy, but she thinks about naughty things almost constantly. Her role in the team is "sniper", though she does happen to be an expert with other guns as well.
The third and last of them is an expert in traps, security and most of all, gadgets. Unlike the other two she's not so much a combat specialist because, well, if she's in combat something's gone wrong. Bit of a hyperactive showoff.
Any thoughts on these three (as yet unnamed) characters are welcome.
From a purely pragmatic standpoint most modern warriors don't use blades as a primary weapon, unless you have something particular for her in mind I'd recommend making her a hand-to-hand expert, utilizing powerful blows, shifting an opponent's weight to sending them flying and grapples to disable civilians and capture hostile targets for questioning. Tazers, daggers, short swords, batons, brass knuckles, tonfas, iron claws and other melee weapons can be integrated into her fighting style for more leathal effect.

DeleteWhile the possibility of using actual NGE characters has been suggested to me via email (people like Mari or Mana), but an observation like that is so thoroughly - well, me - that I can't resist doing this now. It has to be this way. To clarify what I mean: Stumbling into something like that bass ackwards (har har) is something that seems to happen whenever I put finger to keyboard. I swear. My entire writing style seems dependant on that tendency sometimes.

DeleteMy question now is if they will still be around the same age, allowing them to remain students in the pilots' school. Or if they are aged to their early-mid twenties to make them more in line with Section 2? I vote for the later as it makes more sense and can add a more understandable level of maturity/seriousness to their characters. Besides I'm sure that you've got a whole harem of girls Shinji's age lined up for him (and probably the other heroes of this story) so aging them might help balance it out a bit and make it more interesting. Especially if Shinji actively tries to win them over.

DeleteNot to mention the other way around with Shinji making a wish involving his three sexy bodyguards effecting their counterparts in Ranma's universe.
Like a semi-selfish wish that the three were able to fight the monsters that keep popping up (so he wouldn't have to).
DeleteR!Akane and R!Kasumi already can given their respective powerups in their story, R!Nabiki however cannot, yet.
