Tainted Cube Voting Closed: New Poll will begin shortly

In a rather surprising turn, Love Hina came from behind to take the lead by two clear points. As a brief confession, I have to admit that I was privately rooting for it to win, but only because it was the underdog.
For the first time since this started, a series is added back into the mix for the coming week. This means we wind up keeping things nice and stable at five series a week.

However! I am concerned by the notion that we'll just wind up with these four series on a continuous loop. Though I would gladly write Sailor Moon if it turned out to be the most popular, I would like to ask that all participants carefully consider what series they really think could benefit from being the next winner. If you think that's Sailor Moon? Great! If you think it's typical second place thus far Rosario + Vampire? Fantastic! Any of the others? Go for it! I fully expect to see all eight series come into play at some point, and the sooner they interact with the plotline the better. On the other hand, it might be interesting to see Sailor Moon actually be altered in some direct manner. It's really all up to you.

I would also like to remind you that I am accepting votes for individual spinoffs from any of these threads, so long as you specify which one you want.

Code Geass
  2 (11%)
Haruhi Suzumiya
  1 (5%)
Love Hina
  8 (47%)
Rosario+ Vampire
  6 (35%)
Urusei Yatsura
  0 (0%)

Where are they now?
Code Geass: Lelouch has just acquired his Geass, and is about to encounter Villetta.

Haruhi Suzumiya: Kyon has just met Haruhi for the first time (from his perspective, but let's not get into the John Smith mess quite yet).

Neon Genesis Evangelion: Shinji is about to pilot for the first time, but is a very different person than the Shinji we are used to.

Ranma 1/2: Kasumi has become the Warrior of Love and Beauty, Sailor V! It is her duty to purify those possessed by monsters that take advantage of a person's sexual hangups to control them. Her very first encounter involves her youngest sister, Akane, who is purified of her hatred of immature perverted boys alongside the monster. Upon recovery, Akane and Ranma are engaged.

Rosario + Vampire: Tsukune had just arrived at the school, and was about to be crashed into by a certain cute vampire.

Sailor Moon: Usagi had just saved Naru in her first night as Sailor Moon.

Urusei Yatsura: Ataru was on his way home. On arriving he will find out about the aliens and the tag race.

Removed From the Poll
Love Hina won this week, and so is removed from this week's poll. The current number of weeks these series will be removed are:

Sailor Moon: Returned to the poll!
Ranma 1/2: 1
Neon Genesis Evangelion: 2
Love Hina: 3

Discussion of Latest Update
For Sailor Moon, I more or less redid the first episode with a greater emphasis on comedy. For Ranma 1/2, I highlighted how the setting has been altered with an extended action sequence that has consequences to the primary cast. For Neon Genesis Evangelion, I performed an extended retcon of the series that demonstrated the main ways in which the cast were not exactly the same people we are familiar with.

So what do I do with Love Hina? I'm honestly not sure which of the provided options would be the best to go with. Any of them seems like it might work, even though most of them would have to trigger during the infamous bathing scene.

I want to avoid doing anything too similar to Love Normal, but that does seem like the most natural flashpoint for it all to hit the fan. I think this is one of those instances where I'm going to have to take advice from you guys, to see what direction that you would like to see it go in.

  1. Yea...based on the voting history, there's really no way any of the outcasts are going to ever win. The only way to ensure that they do is probably to leave the winners out until we've cycled all the way through the options.
