I have a confession to make regarding this thread. I was rather afraid of when it inevitably did reach the top, because I didn't have the faintest damn clue what direction to take it in. What would I do with it? How could I satisfy those voting it up without a concrete ground to stand upon? Something like this was inevitably going to happen eventually, and I dreaded that this might be the first. The individual episodes were okay, but I didn't really have much of an idea what to do next.
Then a miracle happened. In what was likely a calculated move to guarantee the thread won the week, it was updated the day before it would have won the vote anyway. And with that new episode came a couple of potential directions. Let's see what you think.
The first and most obvious direction involves cycling through the cast, hitting them all with erotic dreams. That works, until we run out of cast members, but could theoretically last quite a while.
But I'd much prefer to investigate the possibility that Ryoga disturbed something the field trip went near, and it's causing the dreams. I think there's some meat there to be explored. There are a couple of possibilities. The most obvious being a trapped succubus/incubus trying to feed enough energy to free itself.
The point being: Give it a bit of direction. Make there be a point to the dreams, rather than just something that happens.
The question then becomes what do you want to see out of this thread? Before writing a single word, I'd like to see some ideas bounced around. Especially from whoever voted it up, because they obviously expect something pretty good out of it. So what do you think?
I do like the idea of a succubus/incubus using Ryoga to power up enough to escape. It allows for more dreams to show up as Ryoga interacts with more people around him.
ReplyDeleteYes, I fully support exploring the cause of the dreams, though I suppose the facts could be doled out in portions across several episodes. Maybe it could alternate, say, an episode dealing with the cause (incubus/succubus or whatever), then one showing another dream, then perhaps an episode looking at the effects of these dreams on the cast in waking life. Does something like that seem like a viable structure?
ReplyDeleteA possibility for what Ryoga did on that field trip.
ReplyDeleteIt was a museum or some other place that was featuring numerous artifacts and such. Maybe artifacts from foreign countries. In any case, Ryoga obviously ended up in places that said "Authorized Personnel Only" and did something that got people angry, hence the security guards going after him. Probably awakened something there.
As for the dreams themselves, perhaps they are part of some repressed desire? Ranma, to actually explore the sexual side of him/her? (Hence the mishmash of his girls pleasuring girl-Ranma in a very masculine manner) Akane, to openly express sexual things. (the dream exaggerating to the point of exhibitionism) And Ryoga, the idea of triumphing Ranma in an non-Martial Artist manner (gaining the affections of Ranma's girls and sexually dominating Ranma). The question would be what's the criteria of being a target of whatever's causing the dreams. Being on that field trip when Ryoga triggered whatever? Being someone in Ryoga's memories?
In any case, the next episode should be about what is causing the dreams.
