Patreon Question

I've been thinking of doing something like this for a while. Now, don't worry: This won't have any effect on the way I've been running the blog to date, you'll still get your two episodes a week (with any extras I feel like writing when I have the time), but I am considering adopting various different income options due to my job doing its best to fray away my last nerve lately.

Here's what I'm thinking: Setting up a patreon account that people can contribute to. The trick was really the rewards to motivate people to contribute to it. Perhaps I could open up an additional weekly thread slot as a reward? I also have some ideas for original fiction that could motivate people to participate.

What I'm asking is, if I did something like this would you contribute to it? If you're willing to give an idea of how much as well it could be helpful in making my decision. Also, any suggestions for things you'd like to see as possible rewards could be helpful.

  1. I think something as simple as weighted votes would be a good incentive. If you're super passionate about a certain story and want to make your votes worth double, that could be worth $5/month (or $1.25 per weekly vote) to you...

  2. i agree. and maybe have monthly votes on what "series" you want to devote an extra chapter too?

ex. month 1 Code geass stories

  3. I think the only thing I would recommend not doing is granting patrons additional influence on the actual content of the episodes, as then that would privilege the ideas of those with more disposable income even if those ideas aren't really the best.
