Tainted Cube Poll Closed: New Poll will begin shortly

This week's thread is finished, it will be posted shortly, I just want to check it over for obvious mistakes first. In the meantime we have our first series to receive a second alteration from the cube. To my great amusement, it was the last series to receive any votes at all in the running, the now suddenly popular Love Hina.

Code Geass
  0 (0%)
Love Hina
  7 (41%)
Neon Genesis Evangelion
  2 (11%)
Ranma 1/2
  2 (11%)
Rosario + Vampire
  6 (35%)

Where are they now?
Code Geass: The battle at Shinjuku has concluded, and Lelouch has murdered his brother Clovis in cold blood. Now that he knows the full extent of his abilities, he shall unleash hell upon the Britannian Empire.

Haruhi: Kyon and Haruhi are now dating, and have discovered that there's something peculiar about Kyon. What's more, the world has been retconned to feature the Britannian Empire from Code Geass, and Kyon may be the only hope the world has to be free of tyranny.

Neon Genesis Evangelion: Shinji is about to pilot for the first time, but is a very different person than the Shinji we are used to.

Ranma 1/2: Kasumi has become the Warrior of Love and Beauty, Sailor V! It is her duty to purify those possessed by monsters that take advantage of a person's sexual hangups to control them. Her very first encounter involves her youngest sister, Akane, who is purified of her hatred of immature perverted boys alongside the monster. Upon recovery, Akane and Ranma are engaged.

Rosario + Vampire: Tsukune meets Inner Moka for the first time, and learns that Moka was a girl he was friends with when they were young. As well, he realises that he has the strange power to make people believe whatever he tells them. These convince him to stay at this dangerous academy.

Sailor Moon: Sailor Mercury awakens! What's more, it seems that something about Usagi is causing people around her to become completely infatuated, and she's having trouble resisting attention.

Urusei Yatsura: Ataru wins the race against Lum, with disastrous(?} consequences.

Removed From the Poll
Love Hina wins this week, to my tremendous amusement. It got not one single vote until it won the first time, then it suddenly starts piling them up.

Haruhi: Returned to poll
Urusei Yatsura:1
Sailor Moon: 2
Love Hina: 3

Discussion of Latest Update
One thing that was definitively expressed during last week's discussion threads was the idea that whichever one won this week there should be a spread of "hentai magical girl" like characters. I do paraphrase a little, but that is a pretty fun idea to play with in Love Hina. For example, it's not so farfetched that something like the following could easily occur.

The girls stumble upon some ancient mystical plot device that gives them all magical powers and compels them to fight some tremendous evil. That sort of thing easily fits into Love Hina, because it has all sorts of weird magical and tech just bubbling beneath the surface.

Now obviously this would have serious repurcussions on what the focus of this series is. Rather than being a romantic comedy harem with the whole "Will Keitaro and Naru finally just fuck already, I mean come on they both want to, just get on with it" dealie (yes, I am engaging in deliberate hyperbole, so you can stop arguing with me over a joke before you even get started) the action would instead shift considerably towards something a little bit more Sailor Moonish. With Keitaro (of all people) being the Wise Leader From Behind the Scenes. That occasionally has sex with members of his magical girl team because, hey guess what, the tainted cube is perverted by its very nature.

The real questions needing to be answered are as follows, and once the answers are known all else can easily flow.

1: Who is the enemy? I mean, it's not like the Love Hina girls are likely to just go out and stomp all over crime or something like that.
2: In what way are they hentai magical girls? I mean, Naru hardly seems the sort to agree to something obviously perverted. Neither does Motoko, for that matter. Mitsune, yeah sure she'd probably go along with that.

So I wanna hear some ideas from you guys if you got them. I'll post Sailor Moon's Tainted Cube episode in the morning if you want some inspiration for whatever desire of Usagi's gets twisted into this new world. For now sleep calls and I shall shortly answer.

  1. Here's an idea. The enemy related to this artifact: http://lovehina.wikia.com/wiki/Hina_Blade That's the closest to an ancient malevolent force in the original rom-com series.

Also factor in Love Hina's connections to the Negima canon as well.

  2. That actually is a very interesting point, regarding the Negima canon. It actually does provide me with a lot of inspiration for where this could wind up going, but before they tackle anything *too* big I think a smaller enemy would be for the best for now. Pactios as the method of power getting makes a lot of sense, with Keitaro serving as the mage. He pretty much is one now, anyway.

As for what powers each of the girls gets, that is still a little up in the air. The nature of the enemy that triggers things is also still needing determined. Both or either should be hentai in some way, though I would prefer it not to be obviously so (unless you scratch the surface so to speak). Any ideas on that front?

Obviously Naru is gonna get the first pactio because no matter how many Love Hina fans hate her (seriously, it almost seems more common than Akane hate), she is the female lead and certain expectations are in place.

Oh, and for those interested... Girls in the Ranma-verse that get taken over by the mystery enemy and then cured by Sailor V can be recruited to join her team.

  3. Here's my suggestion for the enemy. Some kind of supernatural creature that drains the beauty and youth from women turning them into bitter old bags that are so prudish that they would outright say that Naru and Motoko are sluts because of the way they dress and act. The Pactios could also prevent the girls from getting drained.

As to the perverted pactios, that can happen over time. Lets say that every time they defeat a minion of the enemy they absorb a bit of the sexyness/pervertedness that they release and return to the original host. This will make the change gradual enough that by the time the girls really begin to notice the changes in themselves they just may be perverted enough themselves to want to continue to change.

  4. Alright, I think I have a rough plan for this now. Though, I'm keeping the exact nature of the enemy and the abilities a little vague for the time being. I may wind up using something very similar to the above suggestion, though perhaps slightly modified in some way.

Basically, I figured it might be fun to have the cram school taken over... Which makes for an odd recurring theme between two episodes in a row, but whatever, it's a good setting away from Hinata to use. Particularly since the first of the girls will, of course, be Naru. The others can probably wait for the time being.

In addition I was thinking there could be four different creatures, each doing slightly different things, though I'm not sure what they would be. Four is just a sensible number to me. How does that sound to everyone else?
