I've been suggested an interesting idea for this thread to take, and I'd like to open discussion over it here in a new thread to ensure people see it. If you don't want to be spoiled beforehand, don't read the rest of the post.
First of all, the idea was that by complete accident Keitaro's desire could be twisting Tsukune into a similar sort of person to Lelouch. Which makes it pretty interesting, since the worlds are becoming gradually more like one another, but Code Geass had pretty much nothing to do with anything. Interesting coincidence, huh?
Anyway, this does require me to figure out exactly how this would work. Clearly Tsukune's power needs a restriction of some sort, and he also needs some sort of motivating factor. Here's what I'm working on so far, but if anyone else has a better idea, please suggest it.
Possible weakness number 1: It feeds on something. Perhaps due to the twisted nature of the cube, it feeds off sex?
Possible weakness number 2: If a person tries to argue with the belief, they can become violent and aggressive.
Possible weakness number 3: If a person is confronted with directly contradictory evidence, they realise they were lied to or manipulated.
Possible end goal number: Help the school promote the idea of peace and harmony between monsters and humans, while hiding the fact that he himself is human.
So, what do you think? Any thoughts on them? Any better ideas?
1. Feeds how? Meaning Tsukune needs sex to maintain his ability? Only in terms of being able to keep using it, or would the effect on past targets fade too?
ReplyDelete2. Dunno about the violent and aggressive thing. But maybe as a defense mechanism against 3?
3. This makes sense, but could it be taken a little further? Perhaps once the spell is broken on someone, they're immune to the effect of his words? Or would that be going too far? It might.
That goal seems reasonable to me. And if you wanted a bit more corruption while still maintaining most of who he is, he might conclude that the easiest way to achieve both elements of that goal (harmony and hiding that he's human) would be for everyone to like and respect—and serve?—him. You know, road to hell and all that.
Is any of that useful?
I believe that it would make a more interesting and compelling story to have all three limitations rather than just one. After all the greater the adversity the greater then triumph. Whilst maintaining a level of sexy of course.
ReplyDeleteOkay. Personally I see Tsukune more as Lelouch's best friend, rather than Lelouch. If he's going to have people believe what he says then he'd try to be careful and do his best to influence people in the best way possible for them and himself.
ReplyDelete1. I think that having the ability feed off of sex is a great way to insert sex scenes, but may be a bit too easy with what you're going for. My take on this is that right after Tsukune has sex he can convince someone that the sky is green, to the point where if they looked up they would see a green sky, but as time goes on Tsukune would only be able to make people believe lesser and lesser things, things that could be true if they don't know otherwise.
2. We're dealing not just with monsters, but teenage monsters. I remember highschool well enough to remember that it didn't take much to set people off. It may have not always been a flying rage, but it could be a crying fit, or depression, or a desperate need for sex, or so on. I figure that teenage monsters would have their feelings even closer to the surface, so we don't really need this as a fulcrum to create conflict.
3. I like it. Nice and simple for you and the readers to follow.
4. Anytime that Tsukune uses his power on a monster with psicic powers his statement becomes a meme, spreading through the school, mutating, and possibly end up affecting Tsukune himself. A rather chaotic mix when he is going to be meeting a succubus with her own hypnotic charm soon.
I like the goal, very Tsukune like.
