Discussion: Chilly Harem, Christmas Cake Yumiko, Curvy Motoko

Chilly Harem: Tritan's writing an update for this one, we can discuss this when he posts it. Which should be tomorrow, I think?

RCM Magical Christmas Cake Yumiko: Oh boy, this is a new RCM. Spin some ideas for this one, how would you like to see it play out?

Curvy Motoko:
Any of these options look like they could be fun, but I kind of want to go with Motoko being unable to stop herself from flirting with Keitaro. What do you guys think?

6 comments:

  1. Yumiko: This sounds to me we could flip the usual dynamic where, if adults take the field at all in a magical girl series, it's as opponents to the young, idealistic underdogs. Maybe the villains aren't necessarily weak, but happen to be younger guys (and maybe a girl or two) with a thing for older women? Maybe Yumiko is desperate for marriage but is still pretty turned off by that kind of age gap / being hit on by the villains?

  2. Curvy Motoko: Motoko escapes Tsuruko thanks to the fact that the corruption effect has actually weakened Tsuruko's fighting ability (for now), finds Keitaro, and attempts to explain what is happening, but must fight through flirts that keep trying to slip out during it.

RCM Yumiko: Yumiko Akiyama is an excellent office manager who is a smart, capable individual...and desperately trying to shake off her absolutely volatile temper, not helped by her six foot five height and miserable dating record. She's also heavily crushing on the restaurant owner across the street Genji Shinoda, five foot nothing single father who is incredibly attached to his daughter, Miyako Shinoda, buying practically anything cute he sees to bring home to her.

Then one day, a weird cat-ish thing drags itself into her office and tells her she's a magical girl. She almost tosses it out of her office, but then is hit with an idea: Magical Girls are cute, and Shinoda's daughter loves cute things! Therefore, becoming a Magical Girl would be a quick ticket into her good graces (and from there, Shinoda's!)

There's only one problem with her plan. The leader of The Eternal Night Empire?

    Shinoda's ex-wife.

    1. I think that's an interesting Yumiko idea, and not entirely incompatible with my suggestion above. A number of evil suitors creeping on her and led by her actual love interest's ex-wife, perhaps?

One does wonder if the Shinoda girl might have some part in her mother's plans as well. Why, she might even be one of that evil woman's lieutenants.

  3. RCM Magical Christmas Cake Yumiko - my suggestion: Yumiko is a hardworking and professional career woman that has had no romance in her life, not that she has not wanted to but more or less everybody she knows are part of the company and if she showed any romantic interest in any of the male company members so would the sexist expectation be that she would be then one who sacrificed her carrier so she has left that to the side while she works herself up. Now in a position where she has proven herself and feel that nobody now can expect her to just quit and became a housewife or take a subservient position in the workforce to her partner, she finds that everybody she shows some interest in either acts like she is an old crone or seems to be intimidated by that she’s a woman in a position of power, if not both. She has tried blind dates and internet dating but she has gotten the same reaction there.
One day she finds out that she is one of the chosen defenders against the evil Eternal Night Empire, and that comes with the knowledge that this is something important and she can’t just ignore it. Now she has to balance her job with fighting evil in a sexy-cute outfit, while she is still trying to find a boyfriend.
Maybe she will find somebody in her company that’s not as narrow minded as the other? Maybe one of the evil generals is somehow dating material? Maybe her running all around town to stop evil leads to her meeting and befriending some new people ? Maybe there is another company whose representative finds her very interesting? Maybe there is a mysterious masked hunk running around seemingly not really on her side but definitively not on the Eternal Night Empire’s side? Maybe one of her fellow “Magical Christmas Cakes” is actually a man? Maybe she is actually a closeted bisexual and will find a woman that will love her and help her accepting her sexuality? Maybe all of that above, in one big harem story?

  4. Chilly Harem: 1 or 2, with a combination of relationship progression and slapstick.

  5. Chilly Harem: Weird, I thought I had already posted this, but I guess the system didn't take it. In any case, I suggest either 1 or 2, with a combination of relationship progression and slapstick.
