The angel has been defeated, and the trio are riding a euphoric high that could only be matched by sex. They are able to persuade Misato to give them some time alone to get nice and kinky - little realising that Misato herself is looking for a similar opportunity.

However, before she can do anything like that, she, Ritsuko and the bridge bunnies are pulled into a meeting by Gendo that is dripping with irony. He wants to know if there's any progress in understanding how, exactly, the gestalt formed. He's told that no, they don't know yet. Which troubles him. There is every chance that the phenomenon might repeat itself if they're not careful.

Fuyutsuki steps in at this point to commend the pilots for their ability on the battlefield, but expresses concern that they might become unprofessional, and that there might be various psychological issues in the long term - which could diminish their usefulness in combatting Angels. For this reason, he wants them to spearhead a research team that will broaden its approach - discovering the cause and figuring out ways to contain it in case it spreads further. After all,  they all work with the machines that did this to them on a regular basis. For the time being the best thing to do is keep a low profile -

Akira, Yuna and Ako working on an 'alien gets a girlfriend' story.

Ako gets them into a side room with some blue body paint, and encourages Akira to put it on Yuna. At first they refuse, but Ako continually prompts them until they agree. And it feels amazing. Despite themselves, the two of them are rapidly falling under the spell, while Ako spins a yarn, making it dirty and perverted, and without anyone else able to pull  them back from the brink, the two of them are inches off of becoming perverts- before they manage to break out of it. Akira pretends to need the bathroom, as if they ask for medical assistance, Ako will be the one to provide it. But this does leave Yuna alone with Ako, who nearly kisses her before she needs the bathroom as well... and soon enough finds Akira helplessly masturbating, trying to say that she doesn't want to be a pervert but it hurts too much to say, prompting them to realise they've been Got. Ako is in the doorway, and gives them one last nudge now they know the game is over~
