Story: Half Goddess Akane

In the streets of Furinkan, Ranma was strolling all casual like back towards the Tendo home. Hands clasped behind his head, aloof and cool, trying really hard to not think about the extremely weird day he'd had with Akane's Grandmother on her Goddess side. If he was being honest, he was sort of comparing that woman to the hotheaded tomboy that he knew. There were quite a few differences between them - but also quite a bit in common, if you squinted. They were both impulsive in the weirdest ways. Their emotions wore upon their sleeves, which could easily cause quite the mood whiplash.

She'd sure whipped the fiance brigade into shape, though. Oh boy! She didn't even seem to mind that much that they were all after her granddaughter's fiance (him), which was kinda weird. Then again, Goddesses are meant to be a bit strange aren't they?

"I wonder how Akane got on..." he muttered to himself. Not like he was worried about her. Anything in the heavenly realm that tried messing with her would get an earful to last eternity. Well... Okay, maybe he was worried a little. She could get over her head quite easily. She needed him quite a bit to haul her butt from the fire more than once. Then again, she'd saved him as well sometimes, so...

And then the skies themselves seemed to open up. Light poured out from above, cascading and radiant, making everything it touched seem golden and vibrant. It was the kind of light that would give dying plants a second wind, cheer up those on the verge of depression and banish the deepest and darkest of shadows from this mortal realm forevermore.

Yet to Ranma's eyes it wasn't half as blinding as the image contained within, arms spread wide, eyes closed, wearing a hooded robe that almost looked like a wedding dress from where he was standing. The face within was unmistakable. It was his uncute fiancee, descending back to Earth.

Oh yes that's right he had to breathe. Bah, so what if her divine presence was making him feel weak at the knees? It was still the same old Akane as always! And so, he looked up to her, reached deep within himself and said the first thing that came to mind.

"Yo, tomboy! About time you got back!"

Akane opened her eyes to look down at him. "Ranma?" she gasped, apparently being unaware he was even there. Then, as could be expected, she stumbled over literally nothing, made a "woah!" noise, and forced him to rescue her clumsy butt once again, catching her before she hit the pavement.

"Clumsy as ever," Ranma scoffed. "That ain't changed, huh?"

"Dummy!" Akane bopped him on the head. Playful like. "Stop being so rude to divinity! I have my own shrine now and everything!"

"Yeah, probably full of exercise equipment and junk," Ranma immediately replied. Then he noticed they weren't alone. A certain pair were standing off to the side, watching the two of them with great interest.

"Aren't they adorable together?" asked Akane's grandfather, the great, mighty and kinda pervy Susano-O.

"Yes, yes! They really are!" Akane's grandmother nodded along, her being the extremely weird, yet also powerful and wise Amaterasu. "Kukuku, I don't even think that they've noticed he's carrying her bridal style!"

"We'll have great grandkids out of them before the next year is out!" Susano-O cheered, just in time for Ranma and Akane to realize their current position and split apart so fast it likely broke a land speed record. "Aw!"

"So! What did you get up to while I was gone?" Akane huffed. "Nothing too stupid, I hope? I will find out, you know."

"Ah, your granny was keeping an eye on me the whole time." What Ranma said was true enough, she'd been on him like hot glue. The other details, she could probably do without knowing.

"Yes, indeed! And you have chosen a fine young man (sometimes woman), my precious grand-daughter!" Amaterasu said. "My blessings upon this union."

"Oho, a blessing from Amaterasu?" Susano-O said, stroking his chin thoughtfully. The ground beneath them suddenly lit up, prompting Ranma to leap away as far as he could. Dammit, this light was being really insistent! "Considering who she is, that's quite the boon."

"I don't know, even a blessing from Amaterasu might not be enough to save this idiot!" Akane huffed. "There's no way he would -"

Now, this is where Ranma moved in like lightning, entering Akane's personal space and grabbing hold of her hands. "My, how did I not see it sooner?" he said, going full on romance mode. Akane, of course, saw this side of him very rarely and was totally speechless. "That face, that body, that radiant aura!"

"R-Ranma, what's gotten into you?!" Akane gasped, stepping back in shock from his sudden advance. "Don't tell me, that blessing actually worked?"

"It's so uncute!"

The street fell silent for a moment, before Akane hauled back her fist and let it fly, hitting only air as Ranma started to dance backwards while sticking out his tongue.

"Why, such an uncute violent response suits you well!" Ranma jeered, dodging and ducking around her blows. Alright, the glowing fist was a bit worrying. As was the lightning sparking out around her body. Oh! That kick had a bit more reach to it thanks to her divine aura! "It's a truly blessed sight to behold your clumsiness in person, my Goddess!"

"Ranma! Hold still so I can smite you!"

The pair of them danced around, with lightning from the sky coming close to striking Ranma on numerous occasions. It even started to rain, shifting Ranma into girl form. Yet all the while, Ranma pranced around, easily dodging her attacks while continuing to relentlessly tease her.

"A Goddess by genes, yet a demon in the kitchen!" Ranma tittered, then put the back of her hand against her forehead in a faux swoon. "Be still my beating heart!"

"... Are you sure that blessing took?" Susano-O asked. He flicked his wrist and pulled out an umbrella, holding it over himself and Amaterasu. "You're not getting rusty, are you?"

"Patience was never your strong suit, was it now?" Amaterasu replied. "Wait for it."

"Not my strong suit, she says..." Susano-O grumbled, knowing he'd regret it before too long.

"Ranma! Sit still!" Akane yelled. "Stop teasing me in front of my grandparents!"

But no, Ranma would not sit still. Instead, a chuckle fell from his currently girlish lips, and a shrug from those girly shoulders.

"Ah, fine! I've had my fun!" Ranma said. "I mean, come on. The idea the two of us would be blessed like that so easily? We're more like Orihime and Hikoboshi than Romeo and Juliet."

"Here it comes," Amaterasu said, a slightly evil smile creeping onto her divine face. Of course, given her nature it wasn't truly evil, it merely seemed that way to mortal eyes.

"Hey! What do you mean by that?" Akane demanded. "What was that about Orihime and Hikoboshi?"

"You know, we only ever properly see each other, like, once a year, and when we do it's... magical..."

"Ohhh, he realised what he was saying too late!" Susano-O said. He mimed tossing a baseball to a far off basket. "And now they're both turning scarlet! You've still got that magic touch!"

"Yes, shame it never worked on our relationship. Now! You're going to fill me in on everything you got up to, I don't want to hear that she was put in danger. Got it?"

The grandparents shimmied off to the other realm, leaving Ranma and Akane staring at the ground, apparently finding it quite interesting, neither of them quite able to look at one another or turn to walk away. That is, until Ranma sneezed from standing in the rain, prompting Akane to huddle up next to her for warmth. From there the two of them returned home in silence, lest one of them say something stupid to ruin the moment.

Which, knowing them, could be anything from a commentary of the weather to the other being a little bit too clingy.
