Time was, Ami Mizuno would never walk into the library while wearing this kind of attire. The genius girl was practically unrecognisable like this, she looked more like... well, more like Minako out boy hunting than the shy genius girl out doing research. The Starlights, for their part, were hanging back with wary eyes on the remarkably high cut of Ami's frilly skirt, something they didn't think the girl actually owned, and those thigh-high blue socks definitely didn't quite seem her style either.
They exchanged a look amongst themselves. Something was amiss. Something was definitely amiss. None of them could exactly put a finger on it, but... there it was nonetheless.
"Are you sure we'll find something at this library?"
"Probably not," Ami admitted. "However, it is as good a place as any to start our investigation."
As they entered, a geeky looking guy was trying to open the door while carrying a mountain of books. Ami opened the door... then held it open with her foot, while she slipped in around him and pressed her body against his back, while her hands straightened up the books. It could have been innocent but... no, it wasn't innocent, let's be real about this.
"That girl is thirsty," Sailor Star Fighter said, a single eyebrow raised as she watched the poor boy blushing brightly at the close contact. He had probably never had a girlfriend given how he was staring like a deer caught in a headlight. Maker elbowed Fighter and shook her head.
"Maybe she can recruit him to carry the books?” Asked Healer, always intent on avoiding doing any physical work herself if at all possible.
"Please try to remember how it might look right now?" Maker whispered. By which she meant, they were in their seemingly male civilian guises right now. "If three gentlemen stare so wantonly at an attractive girl like that while following her around and commenting on how absolutely blatantly thirsty she is, people might call the police."
“This planet is truly prudish.” Star Fighter said in a mocking voice. She tugged at her collar. "I would feel much more at ease in our normal outfits."
"Alright, here we are!" Ami said, gesturing to the library interior. None of the Starlights were especially impressed. "We should split up and start looking. I would suggest looking in mythology to start with, and work out from there. I'll talk with the librarian in case he has any ideas."
Alright then. The Starlights shrugged and split up, each one taking to a different aisle. However, their thoughts weren't on their own search. Each of them was watching the front desk, where Ami was leaning over and absently twirling around a strand of hair while speaking to a very obviously flustered young man.
“Ehh.. ehh.. I mean, wh-what exactly are you looking for?” The young librarian asked, eyes going down to Ami’s chest momentarily before quickly flipping up again. It was pretty clear that he didn’t know where to look, much less what to say.
"Go for it, Mizuno! He's just your type!" Fighter whispered. Maker wasn't nearly as impressed with what she was seeing.
"This is a girl who is allergic to love letters, openly flirting with a stranger in an attempt to fish information out of him."
"I know, it's much better!" Healer said. "I always thought she was a little too introverted for her own good."
“Ugh.. whatever, let’s give her some privacy.” Maker finally said, grabbing her fellow Senshi and pulling them away from the very interested girl and embarrassed boy.
“Oh come on, I just wanted to see if she goes for it!” Fighter complained, a pout on her currently male face. "Anyway, let's see if we can find anything."
Maker strongly doubted it. This library was extremely basic. No wonder Ami's test scores were as low as they were, when this was holding her back! That girl had the potential to outshine the rest of humanity to an astounding degree. Which made it all the more frustrating to see her turning into... into... a boy hungry trollop.
Maker had seen it on numerous planets. Smart girls, who think they have to play dumb to get the attention of cute boys. It was a waste. A tremendous, stupid waste. All these hormones had to be doing something, turn off their brains in favor of reproduction. Because the alternative was that every girl thought that being a horny little idiot was the best way to get into a guy’s pants.
“Huh, Libra is a constellation..” Healer mused. "Let us see.. It says here that the moon was said to be located in Libra at the founding of Rome.. do you think that has anything to do with this?”
That does fit with the idea of being about 'balance' between order and chaos. It didn't say anything at all about where the perviness came from, though.
“Let’s see.. The autumnal equinox was within Libra until 729, then swapped over to.. Virgo.. The virgin?” Maker looked over Healer’s shoulder and frowned. “Associated with the goddess Dike, deity of Justice, Balance and moral order..”
"I think you might find something up here," the librarian said, and Maker's attention turned entirely towards him and Ami. "Um... Would you like me to climb up and get it for you?"
"Oh no," Ami said, running her finger under his chin. The man was spellbound. "I'll go up."
And then Ami Mizuno went up a ladder while wearing a scandalously short frilly skirt.
“I.. ahh.. I.. does she know what she is wearing?” The librarian asked, a panicked look crossing his face as he stared at the three starlights as if asking for approval to take a peek.
"You know, I'm not sure she does," Maker mused. "Ami, please come down from there."
"In a minute," Ami said, leaning over the ladder, reading a book, while apparently unconsciously swishing her hips from side to side like a pendulum. Back and forth, back and forth, oblivious to the fact that they could all see her underwear. Staring at her underwear as her skirt swished and swayed from side to side just like a swinging pendulum...
Huh! Maker shook her head, for a moment there it almost felt like she was being hypnotised by Ami's posterior. Which was an absurd idea with no bearing on reality.
"Aha! Here we go!" Ami said triumphantly, and she practically jumped down the ladder back to the floor. "Look, these symbols were all over the place when we were - Um... sorry, can I please speak privately with my friends."
The librarian had checked out, however, and was still staring up at the ceiling right around where Ami was standing. Maker rolled her eyes and pulled Ami aside, so she could confer with the three of them on what she'd found.
"Hrm... These symbols seem to be for an ancient sex cult," Maker whispered. "Nothing about Libra that I can see, but it looks like their patron deity was sealed away somehow. There are not enough details to get much more than that, but..."
Healer picked it up from there."But it sounds as if this Libra is actually some kinda sex demon unleashed onto the world and trying - " suceeding, Maker mentally added "To corrupt you Inner Scouts."
"Ah, phooie," Figher snapped her fingers. "Here was me hoping that Ami's new fashion sense and flirtatious attitude was a sign of her coming out of her shell. Turns out it's supernatural corruption."
"Fashion sense?" Ami asked. Oh dear. "What's wrong with my - Oh my gosh what am I wearing?!"
- The Starlights and Ami continue their investigations - including into a temple once devoted to Libra.
- Or perhaps Libra has noticed their search being more successful than he wanted?
- Before investigations can go any further, Loan Shark attacks!
- Meanwhile, Rei, Minako and Makoto are coming to their own conclusions about Libra.
- Libra has made an attempt to introduce itself to the Outers. This did not go well for Libra.
- Something else
