"Ugh! I can't get this right!" yelled a rather irritated-sounding voice coming from the swimsuit section. Mizore poked her head around to see, and could make out a really light-blue-haired cute girl wearing a tube top and a long silk skirt with a bit of a slit up the side looking over the swimwear. She seemed just a bit stressed out, which was really lousy for the skin. "How am I supposed to stand out if the best designs are being taken up by that stupid pink fashion trend?!"
A spark of thought fired within Mizore's mind. The pink trend. It seemed to her as though the trend was pretty great, looked amazing and she was planning to try it out herself... But then again shouldn't journalists get hold of every side of the story? Maybe if she talked to someone that didn't like the cute pink clothes, it might make for an interesting story?
"Hi!" she said, skipping up and waving the girl down. "Hi there! I'm Mizore, from the newspaper club. I'm doing a story about the new look sweeping campus, and was wondering if you might share your thoughts!"
"Very well then," the girl said. "My name is Tamao, president of the swim team." She flashed a cute smile that seemed, to Mizore, at once both predatory and so cute! "My opinion is that it is gaudy. Pink deceives some people into thinking it is a cute colour, when really it isn't. It's painful to the eyes over an extended time. It is merely a fad and nothing more."
"That's super, thanks!" Mizore said, beaming at the success of her first interview. But then, an actual question popped right into her head like a big pink bubble. "So... What were you shopping for just now? In case it's, um, relevant?"
"Well, that much should be obvious," Tamao said. She posed a little in a manner akin to a swimsuit cover model, even though she was wearing something a fair bit more modest. "As the leader of the swim team it is my duty to keep up a spectacular physical appearance. Though it is a heavy burden to bear, I simply have no alternative but to maintain the highest personal standards. That is why I am picking out a brand new swimsuit to dazzle and amaze, but nothing here seems to fit my intention at all. I absolutely need something to help me stand out from the crowd."
"Oh! Wait a sec, be right back" Mizore gasped. She dashed off into the "pink" section of the store, then hurried right on back as soon as she'd grabbed a certain kind of item. "In that case... Why don't you try one of these bottles? See? They do wonders for the skin, and it makes you feel so good afterwards!"
"A body lotion...?" Tamao mused. "To be honest it is a little irritating that it comes in a pink bottle. No doubt pandering to the fad..." Mizore stepped closer, smiled a little wider and Tamao seemed to balk a little at that. "Fine. If you are so insistent, then I shall at least give it a try. I look forward to reading your article, even if I don't much care for some of your colleagues in the club..."
"Thanks! Bye bye!" Mizore waved. What a nice lady. Shame she hated the pink so much, and that blue hair would look so, so much nicer in blonde, but it really did feel like she'd done a good deed today. In fact, it made her so happy that she turned around and skipped right on back towards the pink section of the store.
"Thank you, miss," said an assistant. "It helps tremendously when our customers provide recommendations to each other over our valued products. It often helps facilitate a sale without making us seem pushy, and who wants a pushy salesman?"
At the moment, Mizore was thinking about it a little bit. The guy was a bit of a handsome hunk. Didn't quite make her as wet as Tsukune did, but just because she had a favourite meal didn't mean she couldn't appreciate a well-served dish. Or something.
"Thanks," she said, returning his friendly smile with her own.
"Stage one..." the assistant absently said, almost to himself. "Maybe stage two..."
"Huh?"
"Nothing," the assistant replied, waving off her concerns. "I overheard your conversation. Sorry, didn't mean to eavesdrop, but it seems to me that if you really want to understand this trend you really should try living it."
"Okay," Mizore said. "It looks really super cute, and I bet Tsukune won't be able to keep his eyes off of me!"
"Oh? You already have a boy you're interested in?" the assistant sighed. "How unfortunate, I was planning on maybe asking you out later on, but... Well, at least I can make sure that Tsukune boy can't keep his hands off you! How about these adorable little booty shorts with the hearts on the back?"
Mizore took the shorts he was offering and looked them over. They did seem pretty short. Very sexy, and the hearts were adorable. There was a hole cut in the back into the shape of twin hearts, one for each cheek, and then the gap was filled in with pink mesh. It was easy for her to see herself wearing something like that. Earning Tsukune's stare as she walked past...
"Uh, I think that's really cute, but maybe a bit too much."
"Stage one," the assistant again absently said, nodding along in agreement. "Definitely stage one... Oh well, never mind that! Perhaps if I were to have a word with the manager, we could arrange to have a few items delivered to the newspaper club? For review purposes, of course. We'll even throw in a few samples of our scented body wash! I'm sure it'll go down a treat...."

Tamao lived in the water. Breathed in it. Adored it. The most common substance on the planet Earth, and she was among the royalty that ruled it. Not dry land. The seas, the oceans, the lakes and the rivers. Water. It was a force of nature, versatile as air yet could also be harder than the ground. Tamao lived in the water. She worshiped it, yet if she wished then she could make it worship her. She was a mermaid. A temptress of the water. Capable of luring unwary men and women into a watery grave through beauty alone.
Beauty, even unnatural beauty, needs work to maintain. Make no mistake. She worked very, very hard on it. Kept herself in the sun just enough to keep her skin healthy without coming close to risking any kind of blemish on her skin. She kept herself hydrated, wore clothing that would not irritate or make her want to scratch or any such matter. She did not shower. She bathed. Let herself soak in the water.
And that was the first thing she'd done upon returning home. Tamao had squirted a little bit of this body wash into the bath with her, let the bubbles rise up and then descended into it. The water wasn't even hot. That was not natural for her, you must understand. A mermaid's physiology cared not for hot water. They preferred clean cold water...
Yet this beat out even that. Tamao would quickly confess to having her doubts at first, but this was divine! It felt like her entire body was getting massaged all at once by a team of special experts. She'd had to bite her finger to stop from moaning. Bliss! Pure bliss! That newspaper girl wasn't kidding around, this stuff was making her feel things it shouldn't have been possible to feel!
Somehow her surprise and delight didn't even end there. After ascending from the bath to gaze upon herself in the mirror, Tamao found herself almost unable to look away. Her skin was without flaw. It was practically shining, gleaming as if oil had been rubbed on her, yet this state of being seemed completely natural, complementing her unnatural beauty.
"Yes," she said, half turning to check herself out. "Oh, yes! The men could already barely resist, but now they don't stand a chance at all! Oh! I can taste their energies already... Their big, long, thick energy, pouring down my throat. Mmm, yum!" Tamao giggled, absently squeezing a breast with one hand and smoothing down her toned stomach with the other. "I'll have to get the rest of the girls to give this a go. Oh yes, we'll make up for our losses earlier this year in no time flat."
- Meanwhile, Moka encounters Romi to interview her for an apparently unconnected news story.
- Tsukune stumbles onto the place the body wash originally came from.
- Mizore takes some "sample for review" to the newspaper club and gets the girls to try out the clothes.
- Kurumu spots Tamao pouring the body wash into the pool.
- Gin spots Romi trying to get some other girl to try out the body wash, becomes intrigued.
