If any of the Sailor Senshi valued their intelligence, it was of course Ami Mizuno. The notion that some form of enemy attack was causing them to lose their intelligence, turning them into vapid boy crazed airheads was like a nightmare come true for the shy genius. Discovering the cause of this was an absolute necessity, as soon as possible! From there, countermeasures could be taken to ensure that she retained full control over her faculties.
The very first thing that Ami did to facilitate this research was to set up a variety of documents for her to take note of hypothesis, ways in which to test them. After all, failing to plan is planning to fail. Diving into this without studious notes and a plan of action would lead to her flailing about wildly, wasting her more time in the long run.
To start with - intelligence was not the only metric being affected by... whatever this was. The bodies of the transformed Senshi were - to Ami's horror- also wildly twisted and transformed into over the top examples of femininity. This seemed to be the best place to start as it would give her an idea of what to look for through all further research. To whit - she should immediately start to measure herself at regular intervals. This was easy enough to program into the Mercury computer, although there was one unfortunate downside .To ensure that there was minimal interference, she would have to take off her clothes. While the Mercury computer was quite excellent at performing this kind of analysis, it would be a trivial matter for clothing to throw off its calculations. A piece getting folded over here or there, or a bit of air puffing up an area might throw it off a little bit. Given that time was the only variable she wanted involved, Ami knew it was the best thing to do in order to ensure that other factors did not influence the results.
That's where a lot of scientific analysis winds up, she mused while disrobing in the privacy of her own room. Eliminating variables, or minimising their impact where you could. Prevent the external factors from interfering, so that you can -
She caught sight of herself in the mirror. A cute, naked, blushing girl genius. Honestly now, she had to admit that 'cute' was a rather good description of her. Cute like a pet rabbit. This was hardly a scientific analysis, but it certainly held true. Ami Mizuno was... cute. Adorable. Kinda pretty too. Her breasts were a respectable size proportionate to her frame. Her waist was fairly trim, showing a sensible diet and exercise regime (yes, she did exercise in between bouts of studying, a healthy body leads to a healthy mind after all), her hips were pleasantly wide, and when her hands slipped around towards her butt -
"Ooh, nice!" she yelped, squeezing her own cheeks while peering over her shoulder into the mirror. "Interesting. I wonder what specifically makes certain body parts more appealing than others. A study for another time, perhaps...? Oh dear, what was I working on again?"
<i>"Analysis complete"</i> the Mercury Computer trilled. Oh, that's right! She was having the computer study her body so she could track any and all changes. For the time being she'd have it do that every half hour or so. The scan itself shouldn't take too long, so it wouldn't be too much of a distraction and she'd get usable data out of it, probably fairly quickly. This would also give her some time to formulate a plan to study the aspect that was truly worrying her - loss of intelligence.
The core issue here is an old argument. How does one measure intelligence? Most would reply, "what about I.Q.?" That is the most famous attempt to measure such things, and Ami's was rumoured to be measured - by their metrics - as having an I.Q. of 300. The truth is a bit murkier than that. Especially if (like Ami) you know the uncomfortable history such tests have with regards to eugenics and racial oppression. Bluntly, I.Q. is not as valuable a term as most would believe.
Let's avoid thinking about those topics for now. It could not be disputed that Ami was a genius, but why? Her ability to retain knowledge? Her computational ability? Her demonstrated ability in chess? Her routinely high test scores? Those didn't <i>really</i> prove a high intelligence in and of themselves. Test scores? That meant she tested well. It meant she had a good studying technique. It meant she worked hard at that one area. Which she did. Even attending cram classes when she obviously didn't need to, just so that she could be <b>sure</b> she'd learned all she could in a subject.
The truth is that being 'intelligent' or 'smart' or a 'genius' is a fairly meaningless phrase. It's been remarked that Albert Einstein was a poor high school student, but his surname is often regarded among historical geniuses... But it could well be that he was a poor student because of the lacklustre, limited and restrictive teaching methods being too rigorous, and he was able to achieve his full potential later in life. It could well be that Ami herself was the opposite of this, doing well as a student, but failing to achieve anything of note in the world of the adults.
A frightening thought, to be certain, but if she was going to consider this carefully then she absolutely had to be careful in how she considered this. Let's see. You could say that there were two classical types of genius. Those who excelled in mathematics and science, which Ami herself likely fell into... but there would also be the arts. Mozart, for example. Da Vinci for another, or Shakespeare. For more modern examples, one could view The Beatles as musical geniuses who revolutionised popular music. Ami might fall into this category as well. She adored reading, but did not indulge in that much creative writing. Her father was a painter, but she did not paint very often. She certainly appreciated various forms of art... But creating it herself was not usually something that she did. Ami preferred to study and read... In that case, should she focus on that?
Alright, so what wasn't she good at? That seemed like a good place to start if she was going to measure her own intelligence levels. The answer came to her right away. Of course. She was quite shy, wasn't she?
A sort of lacking in social intelligence, one might say. The third kind of intelligence, the sort that doesn't tend to make big obvious waves the way that others do. Nonetheless, it is an important one. Many business owners would have this kind of intelligence, and many politicians as well. Those with influence in the world would have a high social intelligence, but it would likely not be noticed as such due to other interfering variables. Ami was quite a shy girl. Being with her new friends had helped her come out of her shell, but she did have a bit of a reputation as being aloof and arrogant when, in truth, she was merely unsure of how best to approach other people.
Did that mean she was socially dumb? Oh dear. While she didn't have any particular boy (or girl) in mind at the moment it would be good to be able to get married, settle down and raise a family. If she retained that shyness, then she'd never get to experience that. Oh dear. Oh dear, that wouldn't do at all.
Ami quickly rolled out of bed, thinking about this new topic with great care, taking no note of the fact that her nipples were fully erect and there were signs of dampness around her crotch. Yes, she'd managed to work herself up by thinking about data analysis. What, as if anyone reading this doesn't have a kink others would find weird? Anyway, she went to her wardrobe to look over its contents. This was a classic of breeding rituals by various species across the world, be they mammals or birds or - whatever. Plumage, coat, use these things to attract a mate. For humans, it would be simple attire.
"Ooh, I never thought about it before, but this skirt would go super cute with this blouse," Ami said, giggling at herself for missing something so totally obvious. She started to twirl her hair around her finger, thinking carefully about this. "Let's see... Complimentary colours should draw attention to my cute sexy body. If I leave the top buttons unpopped ,that should super help too. Yes, yes. It would help show off the shape of my mammary glands, which are a subconscious indicator of being a good motherly provider. At the same time, if I tuck it up a little so it shows off my waist, it'll place emphasis on my tummy and waist which will show I have good childbearing hips and health... Showing off my legs would have the same effect too! From a scientific perspective, those aspects make good sense in human breeding practises..."
<i>Analysis complete"</i> the Mercury computer chirped. Oh? It had been half an hour already? Ami leaned over to look at the computer. Oh! There had been a few changes to her boobs and butt, both were a bit bigger than they had been before! This was a clear sign that something was changing about her in a physical sense, but did it mean that she was being changed intellectually?
"Gosh, silly me, I got distracted by thinking about hunky boys and how fucking hot I would be if I - Ooh, I should go clothes shopping! Yeah, I definitely need way sexier outfits if I'm going to get better at being socially smart." Ami flicked through her wardrobe and wasn't quite liking what she was seeing. Too plain, too practical! If she was going to do this properly, test out how impacted she was being in a social intelligence sense, then Ami absolutely needed better variety in her clothing. Let's see... Let's see... She'd also need to keep track of sexual partners as well. The merits they had, how much she enjoyed her time with them, how adventurous they were in bed...
Yes, there really could be no doubt at all. If Ami Mizuno was going to try and measure her intelligence, she would have to seduce lots and lots of pretty boys and girls. And, as a control, she could even use her super hot friends! It was the perfect plan. It would give her the absolute best chance of figuring out a way to not become a dumb ditzy airhead, and save all her friends at the same time!
Of course, as we can all see, intelligence can be measured by many yardsticks... but so too can bimboness. Different forms for different people. Ami wasn't losing her brilliance in tech, science or mathematics, but her common sense? That was another matter entirely.
