There he was. It was amazing to think that this was Genma's son he was looking at just now, sitting on the roof of his house and staring up at the sky. Soun could definitely see the resemblance in appearance and attitude, but it was rather transparently clear that this boy was his own man.
As much as he wanted to catch up with his friend, drink, reminisce, and reestablish their friendship, for the time being Soun felt the tug of responsibility play on his heart. That was why he went up there as well. It had been a long time since he had roof hopped, but after stretching his muscles, easing them out and reminding them how this process worked, he was able to manage it quite deftly. Ranma glanced in his direction, then resumed staring up at the sky.
"It's quite the day," Soun began. He sat down a little distance away from the boy. "You know, I've been looking forward to meeting you for quite some time." No response. Inherited Genma's stubborn streak, have we? "It has long been a dream of mine that you would marry one of my daughters, and carry on the tradition of Anything Goes." The boy's back stiffened, but still no answer. "Still, it was a shock to see your future self appearing like that. And Akane wearing a western-style wedding dress..." Soun teared up a little remembering. "Forgive me. It is rather obvious you don't want to be forced into a relationship with someone you barely know."
"That's not the half of it," Ranma said.
"Oh? You're talking now? Then why don't you tell me what you're thinking. There's no shame in opening up sometimes."
For a full minute Ranma remained silent, and Soun gradually began to feel as though the conversation had already ended. He stood up again to leave the boy alone with his thoughts -
"That future me was really strong, huh?"
"Yes," Soun said. "I suppose he was. I lost track of how many times he struck Genma earlier on."
"I always thought girls were a distraction," Ranma said. "I figured if I hung around here I'd get soft. But he stayed, and he got really strong."
Soun hummed a little to himself in thought. Here he was. The archetypical young man that thought he understood the world, discovering his beliefs being questioned by reality. It really made him feel his own age. He put his hand on the shoulder of his future son-in-law, and imparted a genuine and honest piece of advice.
"Sometimes a woman can be a distraction," he said. "But other times, a woman is an excellent motivator. Practising martial arts for its own sake is one thing. Using those skills to protect something you love and cherish can take you to even greater heights. Remember, Ranma. From the right point of view any weakness can become a strength, and vice versa."
It must be a shock to anyone, seeing their future appear before them like that. It must make a person feel powerless. As though they lack free will, the ability to choose their own fate. Then again, it also presents a rare opportunity: The ability to select the path they wish to take. The young man sitting on this roof must be a torrent of emotions just now. But Soun felt confident he would do the right thing. He would see how happy his future self was with the future version of Akane, and who knows? Perhaps the wedding would happen even faster than two years this time?
For Soun's part, as much as he wanted to see it happen sooner rather than later... Part of him felt as though maybe he could relax just a little bit for the time being and let them find their own way. Love would triumph in the end. Of that much he was absolutely certain.
Although, come to think of it... Where on earth had those two visitors from the future disappeared to?

He had made up his mind. It was a difficult decision, and his pride was trying to tell him it was a dumb idea. But under the circumstances it seemed like the smartest possible thing he could do. The appearance of his future self had provided him with a sneak peek ahead, and if he was perfectly honest with himself he really, really liked what he'd seen so far.
Ranma's plan was to run off to China at the first chance. Find a cure to his curse. Try to keep away from that crazy village. Maybe find a cure for the dragon whisker too... Anyway, his plans hadn't involved sticking around this stupid place for some dumb engagement plan with a broad he had never even met before. But now he knew a little better. Now he was a little smarter. He had a little more information that made him actually kind of want to stay right here!
"Alright," he said to himself. Ranma hopped up onto his feet. "I'm going to go find my future self and get him to train me! That way I'll be able to kick Pop's butt too, and he won't know what hit him! Hahahahaha!"
Yes, there was no question of it. Ranma really was his father's son after all. He was a strong martial artist, he was headstrong, he was proud... And he was also kind of an idiot.

Oh dear, would you look at her? This whole day must have been such an awful shock to her system. Causality is such a difficult concept for the average human to get their mind wrapped around, so it was no wonder poor Akane was left wandering the house in a daze.
"How are you feeling, little sister?" she asked. Akane's eyes flickered towards her as if noticing her presence for the first time. For some reason she ran her fingers through her hair and gulped.
"K-Kasumi," she asked, her voice trembling quite a bit. "Do you think I'd look nicer with short hair?"
Oh, dear. The poor girl. Comparing herself to her older self? That was not entirely psychologically healthy. Nor temporally healthy. Hum. It made her wonder. Would it cause some kind of paradox if Akane decided to keep her hair long? Or would it be a paradox if this was the reason she cut it short to begin with? The eldest Tendo daughter patted the youngest on the head, and Akane bit her lip for some reason.
"Do you want to cut it short?" Kasumi asked. "If so, why? I'm not saying you shouldn't do it, but you should at least recognise why you want to before you do something so drastic."
"R-Right," Akane nodded. "Um... Do you know where Ranma is? I mean, the Ranma from our time."
Oh? Was that a touch of flush on her cheeks? Perhaps this event had made her think about a serious relationship with that boy after all? Or maybe her future self had given her some sage advice? How peculiar. Akane was never really the kind to take her own advice. She always tried to emulate... Well, emulate Kasumi herself that she rarely really tried to be her own girl.
"He's up on the roof," Kasumi said. "I think the two of you should talk this through. It is quite the complicated situation you both have right now, and I think talking would definitely help you both out."

Meanwhile in the basement, there was a great deal of hot and sweaty hard fucking going on. Ranma had lifted Akane back up as an astonishing testament to his strength given their comparative positions and what they were doing. He kissed her neck, and she made this noise that was the most beautiful music he'd ever heard in his life. Then set her back down on the floor much gentler than he picked her up, and indeed gentler than he was fucking her, then pulled her foot onto his shoulder so he could change the angle.
"Remember our first time?" Ranma suddenly asked in between heated grunts of passion.
"Oooh, yes!" Akane replied. "Just after! Oh, right there! Just after you got back from fighting Herrrrb!"
Their hips seemed to be in some sort of strange sumo-esque contest, given how hard they were driving into one another. These two were always fiercely competitive, and that didn't change even when they were rutting like animals in heat. Case in point, Akane displayed some rather remarkable flexibility by using her free leg to ensnare Ranma's waist, kicked away his hand with her other leg and then reached up to pull him down.
"You were gone for weeks," she said. "I thought I might never see you again. That night when you came back, we met inside the dojo -"
"We were clumsy, we were awkward, but we kept doing it until we learned," Ranma sniffed. He ran his hand through her hair. "We were just using each other to vent -"
"While keeping our relationship secret from everyone," Akane finished. She trailed a figure eight on the middle of his chest and began to swirl her hips in just the way she knew drove him wild. "If- Oooh, if only we could have gotten married just then, we wouldn't have needed to keep it secret anymore. You dummy!"
"Stubborn tomboy," Ranma grunted. "You - You'll never be cute no matter how many times we - Ah! Can't hold it back any longer!"
"Then don't!" Akane moaned, and her legs once again completely locked around his waist, and she pulled him into a deep, deep kiss as they came together.
They parted with ragged breath and sweat-drenched brows. Ranma looked her in the eyes. "What's the big idea?" he demanded. "We don't have any birth control or anything, so I was gonna cum outside. Of all the stupid, uncute - What if I just got you knocked up?"
"Oh, I don't know," Akane said, darting her lips up to kiss him on the forehead. "I guess you'd have to marry me. Or something crazy like that. Love you, you dumb jerk."

ReplyDeleteGreat chapter. Maybe more of 2, but something happens that gets both of them in an awkward position, with Ranma realizing for the first time that Akane really is cute?
